The Story
This Jeep Wrangler came to Mortie’s Speed as a trade in on our 1997 full custom Jeep build, Angie. The reason we took it in was because of how great a shape the Jeep was in for a 1999. The body was straight and rust free other than a couple dings and scrapes. The interior had very little signs of use other than some fading on the door panels. Even the 2.5L four-cylinder engine only had just over 115,000 miles on it. There was already a 2.5” Rough Country lift kit installed with almost new 265/70R17 Falcon Wildpeak tires and 17X8.5 Fuel Trophy rims. The interior was professionally Line-X’d and the stereo was upgraded with Rockford Fosgate speakers and a 7” touchscreen display from Pioneer. There were countless aftermarket parts installed, including aftermarket hood latches, halo LED headlights, a newer Quadratec soft top, and a Rugged Ridge rear bumper with tire carrier. The only real modifications we did to the Jeep was add in some Rugged Ridge front and rear seats and swap out the stock front bumper for a custom-built job we did in house. The Deep Amethyst paint was corrected with rubbing compound and polish to bring it back to a deep, rich, mirror like shine and the fender flares were painted to give them a higher quality look. We also recolored the roll bar padding to get rid of the faded color. In all, this Jeep will make a great addition for anyone looking to add a well-preserved TJ Wrangler to their garage stall. With the shape this Jeep is in and for only having 115,000 miles on it, it still has many years of life left in it. Plus, with a 5 speed manual transmission, it’s a whole heap of fun to drive.
